Dr. Alan J. Chapeskie MD

12-web Dr. Chapeskie began his post-secondary education with the intention of becoming a teacher. He changed paths and went into medicine, receiving his medical doctorate from the University of Toronto, Canada. He has always incorporated his desire to be an educator into his medical practice. Dr. Chapeskie believes that a patient who understands his/her health conditions is far better able to actively participate in their own healthcare. He is excited that UNISON FAMILY MEDICINE allows even more opportunity to educate and inform patients regarding their health issues.

Dr. Chapeskie has specialized in Family Medicine for over 30 years, practicing first in Victoria, British Columbia and then in Tucson, AZ after relocating in 1995.

He consistently strives to maintain his knowledge base and keep up with the ever-advancing field of medicine. He has received awards from the Canadian College of Family Physicians and the British Columbia Medical Association for obtaining the highest marks in the country on his Canadian Family Practice Certification exam. He has consistently scored in the top 1% on his American Board of Family Medicine Certification/ Recertification examinations. On his most recent exam in 2014, he received a perfect score of 800.

Dr. Chapeskie has been married to Joy, his high school sweetheart, for over 35 years. They enjoy playing tennis and taking on home renovation projects as a team. They share that home with their two dogs, Tchotchke and Tasha.

To relax, the doctor likes to play guitar and study music.

He saved my daughter's life by NEVER giving up when specialists could not determine what was wrong. Dr. Chapeskie has been our family doctor for over 20 years. He is one in a million. Really cares about each patient. Takes time to explain everything. His staff doesn't overbook. The normal wait time about 5 minutes after your scheduled appointment time. Not bad! Highly recommend him!

Dr. Chapeskie is a wonderful doctor. I came to him recently during one of the most difficult (health-related) times in my life, and he was incredibly helpful. He has a great personality and bed-side manner, and he seems to be quite sincere regarding your health. He was also very understanding of my situation (not having health insurance at the time) and did everything he could to help me. He takes the time to explain why he is suggesting certain treatments, and is not there to just prescribe a pill and send you on your way as many other doctors are. I would HIGHLY recommend him as a primary care doctor.
